DR. PHIL SHOW HIDES SEASON OPENER ON YOUTUBE AFTER FLOOD OF FEEDBACK SUPPORTING LILA ROSE
from: LiveAction News

Lila Rose blocked on Dr. Phil (2 Oct.) Last month, Live Action founder and president Lila Rose appeared on the season opener of the Dr. Phil Show. The topic was abortion after Roe v. Wade, but it focused heavily on Nancy Davis, a mother who had received a life-limiting diagnosis for her preborn child, said to be likely to die in the womb. The media falsely claimed Davis was forced to travel thousands of miles from Louisiana to New York to get an abortion, when in actuality she could have obtained one legally much closer to home. Though overwhelmingly outnumbered by abortion advocates on the show, Rose received an outpouring of support once the episode aired, including in Dr. Phil’s YouTube comments section – and now, the episode has been "unlisted" on the platform.

This means that the video is not publicly viewable when visiting Dr. Phil Show’s YouTube page, nor will it show up in search results. It can only be seen and shared by people who already have the link, which is here. Instead, a four-minute clip is the only video publicly available on the show’s YouTube page – and that video’s comment section likewise was flooded with comments praising Rose. The most recent comments left on the original video were posted two weeks ago (based on the date of this article’s publication). Because Live Action News had saved the link to the original video, we are able to embed it.

During the episode, Rose appeared alongside Louisiana State Senator Katrina Jackson, and Right to Life League’s VP of Legal Affairs, Susan Swift. Appearing on the show to argue in favor of abortion was Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney representing Davis, and National Organization for Women (NOW) president Christian Nunes. Additionally, Dr. Phil himself, as well as the majority of audience members, were clearly in favor of abortion. Rose, Jackson, and Swift were rarely given the chance to speak without interruption, and were frequently treated with contempt.

A 15-minute clip of the episode was posted on YouTube, and was quickly flooded with comments in support of Rose – and sometimes in opposition of Dr. Phil himself. Below are just a handful. [Go to the article to read the amazing comments!] [read more...]

COMMENTARY: This sad tale illustrates how the leftist media squelch the viewpoints of those with whom they disagree. We as Christians need to speak up on other social media than YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. that "shadow-ban" our viewpoints. Here are my favorite conservative Christian social media sites: MeWe.com, USA.life, and Gab.com. DENMARK TO INVESTIGATE SHAMEFUL CAMPAIGN OF POPULATION CONTROL IN GREENLAND IN THE 60S AND 70S
from: BioEdge.org

population control in Greenland (1 Oct.) Between 1966 and 1975 Danish doctors implanted intrauterine devices (IUDs) in half of the indigenous women in Greenland to promote health and to stop the growth of the native population. Allegedly, few of the women – some of them as young as 13 – gave their consent.

Last week, the Danish Health Minister, Magnus Heunicke, announced that there will be a two-year investigation into the scandal. He said that he had met some of the women affected. "The pain, physically and emotionally, that they have experienced is still there today," he said. The campaign to insert IUDs was not a secret, but it took decades before Inuit women spoke out. And it was only when two journalists from the national broadcaster DR launched a podcast, Spiralkampagnen ("coil campaign"), that it became a political issue.

It seems that up to 4,500 women and girls – roughly half of all fertile women in the country – had an IUD implanted mostly between 1966 and 1970, but ending only in the mid-1970s. The reasons appear to be straightforwardly paternalistic, racist, and economic. It was hailed in a 1972 issue of the Journal of Family Planning as a great "success."

In 1953 Greenland became an integral part of Denmark. Denmark began to invest heavily in modernising infrastructure and social services. Danish workers (mostly men) flooded into the sparsely populated territory. Within a few years Greenland had the highest birth rate in the world, half of the population was under 16, and 25% of children were born out of wedlock.

Something had to be done. Danish authorities embarked upon a family planning campaign. The contraceptive of choice was an early version of an IUD because the doctors believed that Inuit women were too feckless to use condoms or pills effectively. Doctors told the journalists that they routinely inserted them in women without their consent. "Only a few women who've just given birth left the hospital without a loop, and the same was true for women who had abortions," Jens Misfeldt, a former doctor in Greenland, stated in an article in 1977.

COMMENTARY: This is a shameful history that so often occurs when a larger nationality invades the land of a smaller nationality and begins to assimilate-or-eliminate the smaller one. Those who "go along to get along" become assimilated into the larger culture, but those who resist and try to hold on to their identity get sidelined, "shadow-banned," or eliminated.

OCCUPIED UKRAINE: MASKED SOLDIERS SEIZE MARIUPOL PASTOR AND WIFE
from: Forum 18 News Service

Mariupol (6 Oct.) Church members and relatives have been unable to find out who is holding Council of Churches Baptist Pastor Leonid Ponomaryov and his wife Tatyana, where and why. Armed and masked men in military uniform seized them on 21 September from their home in Russian-occupied Mariupol. Neighbours "distinctly heard groans and cries" as the masked men took them away "in an unknown direction," local Baptists said. Military personnel searched and sealed Ponomaryov's Baptist Church. Russian officials had initially claimed the couple had been involved in "extremist activity."

The two were initially taken to the police station and told that they would be held until the Russian-controlled referendum on the status of Donetsk Region was over. However, they were not released when the referendum concluded on 27 September.Armed and masked soldiers have detained Pastor Leonid Ponomaryov, Pastor of a Baptist Council of Churches congregation in Russian-occupied Mariupol, and his wife Tatyana. They took them from their home on the evening of 21 September. Family and church members have been unable to find out since who took the Ponomaryovs and why, or where they are now being held.

Russian officials had initially claimed the couple had been involved in "extremist activity" and searched the Baptist Church. They sealed the church to prevent future meetings for worship to be held. Some other Protestant churches – including at least one other local Council of Churches Baptist congregation – are still able to meet for worship in Mariupol, though others have been forcibly closed.

Forum 18 has been unable to find out who has seized Pastor Leonid Ponomaryov and his wife, or why. The duty officer at the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) State Security Ministry – who did not give his name – referred all enquiries to the police. "For kidnappings, if that is the case, you should go to the police," he told Forum 18 on 6 October. Told that armed and masked men in army uniform took the couple, the officer repeated his response.

The duty officer at the Russian-controlled police of Mariupol's Kalmiusky (Ilichivsky) District, where the Ponomaryovs live, refused to answer any questions. "We can't give any information by phone," she told Forum 18 on 6 October. She refused to put Forum 18 through to or give a phone number for Pavel Sotnikov, the District police chief. The telephone at Mariupol City Police went unanswered each time Forum 18 called on 6 October. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: The Council of Churches Baptists are a group that refused registration by the USSR's communist government in the 1960s during the Soviet era and were actively persecuted up until the collapse of the USSR. Then that persecution faded but the notion that these people were anti-government persists to this day. Minority Christian and pseudo-Christian groups are disfavored by the Russian Orthodox Curch and the Russian government, so when Russia invaded Ukraine, siezing the Crimea and Donbas areas in 2014, this persecution resumed.

RANKING PEGS BEST CITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES: #1 MINNEAPOLIS, #2 PITTSBURGH
from: Disability Scoop

Minneapolis: best city for disabled (30 Sep.) A new analysis is factoring everything from cost of living to the effectiveness of state Medicaid programs to assess which U.S. cities are most ideal for people with disabilities to call home. The ranking out this week from the personal-finance website WalletHub names Minneapolis the best city for this population followed by Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Columbia, Md., and Huntington Beach, Calif.

A new analysis is factoring everything from cost of living to the effectiveness of state Medicaid programs to assess which U.S. cities are most ideal for people with disabilities to call home. More than 180 cities were evaluated using 34 metrics of disability friendliness, all fitting into three basic categories – economy, quality of life and health care.

Some factors including the employment rate for people with disabilities, the share of people with disabilities and the percentage of people vaccinated against COVID-19 were given extra weight. Other considerations for the ranking were the availability of professionals like home health aides, special educators, doctors and therapists as well as wheelchair accessibility, the graduation rate for students with disabilities and earnings for people with disabilities. COMMENTARY: It may be surprising that the Pittsburgh area, where we live, which was an area of coal mines and steel mills with all of the attendant pollution, is now one of the best cities for elderly and disabled people to live in the U.S.! It has really transformed itself in the last 40-50 years as steel production shifted to developing countries where raw materials are available and labor is cheaper.

LATVIAN CHURCH COULD FOLLOW THE PATH OF ESTONIA, – OCU SPOKESMAN
from: Religious Information Service of Ukraine

Yevstratiy Zorya (5 Oct.) After the decision of the country's Parliament to withdraw the Latvian Church from the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate, it could follow the path of Estonia and continue to communicate with the Ecumenical Patriarchate regarding its recognition. The hierarch of the OCU Yevstratiy Zorya expressed this opinion in the interview with Ukrinform.

"The Latvian state tolerated the Moscow Patriarchate for more than 30 years, and the Moscow Patriarchate was used as a tool to destroy the Latvian state... Should the state protect itself and the security of its citizens from Russian aggression, or should it not? There are tasks of the state, and there are tasks of the Church. And let the Church regulate its position from the point of view of the canon law and in accordance with the practice that exists in the Orthodox world. It seems to me that it is absolutely logical and simple to do what neighboring Estonia did almost 30 years ago: they turned to the Ecumenical Patriarch and received a resolution of their situation from him. Either it will be autocephaly, or it will be autonomy, or it will be some other form, but this falls within the competence of the Ecumenical Patriarch," the OCU hierarch said.

Commenting on the question of whether something has changed in the relations of the Ukrainian Church with the Moscow Patriarchate, Archbishop Yevstratiy expressed doubt and noted that he does not see any official reaction to the fact that Moscow took three Crimean dioceses from the UOC-MP and unofficially stole what was previously occupied and what was captured.

"That is, Crimea was taken clearly, 'documented,' and the Donbas and the occupied other parts of Ukraine were taken de facto. For example, Metropolitan Elisey of Izyum and Kupyansk went to Moscow to meet with Patriarch Kirill. On what grounds did he go there, and why did he go there? Obviously, not just to see him. What is the reaction of Metropolitan Onufriy, as the head of a religious association, who is officially responsible for responding to such things?"

"Or is there a reaction from those who are officially empowered to respond – Metropolitan Anthony, Metropolitan Klyment, archpriest Mykolai Danylevych? Although, when a community decides to leave the Moscow Patriarchate in a remote village in a parish, they react instantly. At the same time, there is no reaction to the fact that Moscow took several thousand religious communities, monasteries, and dioceses from them. This is a real fruit that indicates that communication with Moscow has not been severed,” the hierarch said.

As reported, in early September, the Latvian Seimas adopted a law submitted by President Egils Levitis on the withdrawal of the Latvian Orthodox Church from the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. Estonia was the first Baltic country to remove the Orthodox Church from the jurisdiction of the MP. In 1993, the country's state authorities registered the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church as the sole legal successor of the "illegally and repressively liquidated church administration." [read more...]

COMMENTARY: The LOC-MP ("Latvian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate") is putting up a big fuss because it is about to be sidelined by Latvian Orthodox Christians who want nothing to do with Moscow because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. What Russia thought would be an easy takeover has turned into a long, brutal campaign of terror and genocide that has shocked the world.

PCHETA, THE SENATE’S DEADLY PALLIATIVE CARE BILL, IS BACK ON THE TABLE
from: Personhood Alliance

Personhood Alliance (26 Sep.) Palliative care, while touted as improving the quality of life for people with serious illness, has become dangerous – and deadly. Too many people are abused or "helped" to die, instead of being cared for so they might live well in the time they have left.

Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin recently reintroduced the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA) to the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. This version of the bill, S. 4260, is nearly identical to last session's S. 2080.

On Tuesday, September 18th, the pro-euthanasia group Hospice Action Network called for phone calls and emails to U.S. Senators, asking them to support PCHETA. They see the bill for what it is – a step further down the path of legalized "aid" in dying, a goal they wish to pursue.

Another leader in the "medical aid in dying" movement, Compassion & Choices, embraces PCHETA as death-oriented, treating assisted suicide and euthanasia as palliative care options.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition USA (EPCUSA) warns:

"Palliative care defined by hospice and insurers is focused on cost-cutting. Quality and comfort take a backseat to profits, with a disparate impact on low income patients and people of color. We believe people should be empowered to live well with chronic illness without placing them at risk of hospice abuse, serious harm and even hastened death."

PCHETA is inherently flawed

With appropriate medical care, most people with chronic illness will continue to live many years. So ideally, palliative care would remain in the realm of primary care where it has traditionally resided. In fact, the workforce shortage the PCHETA claims it will meet disappears when the role of primary care providers who provide palliative care is taken into account.

Palliative care is oriented toward people with chronic conditions, while hospice is geared toward people who are dying, Inappropriately connecting the two pushes patients down a path toward death long before they become terminal.

PCHETA repeatedly links palliative care with hospice, but fails to mention primary care as an option for non-terminal people with chronic illness. The bill also fails to define who is eligible for palliative care. Physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains must be dually certified in both hospice and palliative care. Currently, there is no certification for palliative care alone.

Follow the money

It is well documented that hospices are using palliative care as a "loss leader" to enroll more patients into hospice earlier. In other words, palliative care is sold below cost to attract more patients, who will later be enrolled into hospice, the most profitable Medicare benefit. Those enrolled prematurely create even more profit because they need less care.

The U.S. Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG) reports that hospices are enrolling patients who are not terminally ill without their knowledge or under false pretenses. They also reported people were inadequately informed that their care had switched to hospice.

It is reported that hospice and palliative care companies have approached the heads of health care systems and proposed that through their expert symptom care, they will keep people out of the hospital. So they are expected to do just that – keep people out of the hospital. The most cost effective way to do this is to get patients to sign an advanced directive saying they prefer to stay out of the hospital. These directives typically are not conditional on the patient's ability to recover. So when a person needs hospitalization, instead they are "made comfortable" – which often leads to death. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: PCHETA has turned the benign, caring idea of hospice services for those who are in the last stages of dying into an assembly-line method of deceiving and euthanizing the elderly and disabled who are not at all near death but who dislike the scary idea of going into the hospital. Laws allowing euthanasia are spreading to various states of the U.S. and various other countries as the massive "baby boom" generation is reaching well into the age of 70 and up. It has become a matter of economic concern for governments, so they are finding euphemisms to cover the fact that "we need to decrease the number of older people."

NOW, OUR VIEWS:

The Rainbow: a Blessing, or a Curse?

rainbow over Pittsburgh, Oct. 4, 2022

Click the pic to see our mini-vacation photos! In 1 week we visited 7 friends and relatives in 5 cities in 4 states who have disabilities. My wife Cheryl is a good counselor and comforter to these people. Altogether, we drove 1,550 miles in 7 days. As we were approaching our home in Pittsburgh, we were treated to a double rainbow, the brightest one shining right over the area where we live. It was a real blessing!

As you know, the first appearance of a rainbow recorded in the Bible was after Noah and his family survived the Great Flood. In Genesis 9:12 & 15 we read – "And God said, 'This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature with you, for everlasting generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth . . . and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.'"

But as you also know, symbols of God's goodness and mercy can sometimes be distorted into just the opposite: when the Israelites in the wilderness grumbled against Moses – "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this disgusting bread", God sent serpents to bite them. When they repented, God told Moses to make a bronze serpent, and "if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of brass, he lived" (Genesis 21:5-9).

So Israel kept the bronze serpent and it passed down from generation to generation. But in 2 Kings 18:4 we read that when Hezekiah became king – "he cut down the poles of Asherah worship and demolished the bronze serpent which Moses had made, for up to those days the Israelites were offering incense to it and called it Nehushtan." They made this life-saving bronze serpent into an idol and used it in their sex orgies that were part of Asherah worship. It's interesting that in the Bible idolatry is almost always linked with sexual sins.

In the same way, the rainbow that was a symbol of God's mercy has become a symbol of sexual sins: lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgenders all claim the rainbow as their symbol. This transmutation of symbols, meanings, and values is common throughout history. The Israelites had holy days for harvest time, but rather than worshiping God they turned away from holiness to wickedness –

"Neither do they say in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you. For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and grew rich. They have grown fat, they shine: yes, they surpass in deeds of wickedness; they don't plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and the right of the needy they don't judge. Shall I not visit for these things? says the Lord; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? An awesome and horrible thing is happening in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?" (Jeremiah 5:24-31).

Notice here that some people use deceit to become great and rich – embezzlement, and it involved the religious leaders, the prophets. And the "people love to have it so." People often play religious games, "play church," thinking that their religious jargon, costumes, symbols, and rituals will somehow earn God's favor. Meanwhile, they practice deceit, embezzlement, and extortion... especially the religious leaders who know how to misuse these religious symbols in order to manipulate and deceive, become great, and grow rich.

How long will we have to put up with this? "God presides in the great assembly. He judges among the gods. 'How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?' Selah. 'Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked'" (Psalm 82:1-4). God presides, He rules over all. He will call to account all those phony religious leaders who extort, embezzle, and commit adultery. But here's what the Lord requires –

"Thus says the Lord, Keep justice, and do righteousness; for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast; who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the foreigner, who has joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, the Lord will surely separate me from his people; neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus says the Lord of the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold fast my covenant: To them I will give in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters; I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off" (Isaiah. 56:1-5).

The eunuch is one who is celebate, or should be. Such people sometimes wish to break their celibacy and they fall into sin. Those who fall will have their names in ignominy. But those who remain pure will be memorialized with "a name better than of sons and of daughters."

The Swedes, Finns, Latvians, and Estonians together with the Ukrainians all want to rid themselves of Russian influence and power over them because of Russia's invasion and war in Ukraine. After Russia's 2014 invasion and siezing of the Donbas and Crimea, Russia built a big bridge from the Russian mainland to the Crimean Peninsula consisting of a lane going east-to-west and a lane going west-to-east. Recently the east-to-west lane and a rail line have been bombed in two places, disrupting war supplies and soldiers from going to Crimea. This sends a clear message to Russia: get your armed forces and civilians going on the west-to-east route back home before it too gets destroyed.
