BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE ARC

Brief Overview of the ARCGet 2 PDFs: first, "Agape Restoration Communities - Brief Overview," a one-sheet (two sides) "management summary" to give you a bird's-eye view of the Agape Restoration Community concept with two drawings.

If you're still interested, get the second document: "Biblical Basis for the Agape Restoration Society," a 11-page paper including FIVE full-page sketches of our plans for "Agape Restoration Communities."

Our earlier sketches were for a 28- to 42-living unit building. But to start small, we've come up with a more compact design that's about 1/4 the size of the earlier plans: see our five sketches for a 12- to 18-living-unit building including two 2-bedroom and two 3-bedroom homes on the first floor, two 2-bedroom homes, two 1-bedroom homes, and a community room/chapel on the second floor, all wheelchair-accessible. These can be split into fourteen 1-bedroom homes. There are also four 1-bedroom homes in the loft accessible by stairs or elevator.

These free PDF documents explain how these communities will operate, and quote in detail how a similar organization with about 25 such communities organizes and finances their non-profit housing cooperatives. There are hundreds and hundreds of faith-based residential communities for the elderly and disabled all over the U.S. You can also join our A.R.C. Chat/Video Forum to keep informed as these communities develop. [read more...]

NEXT, THE NEWS:

REV. WALTER HOYE URGES SUPPORT FOR BLACK PRO-LIFE 'UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE' TO END ABORTION
from:
LiveAction News

Rev. Walter Hoye II (28 Feb.) Synopsis: The article tells the story of Walter Hoye, a black pro-life activist who founded the Issues4Life Foundation to expose the abortion industry’s targeting of black communities. Hoye shares his personal experiences of being arrested, jailed, and persecuted for his peaceful sidewalk counseling outside an abortion facility in Oakland, California.

Hoye also reveals the existence of a black pro-life underground resistance that is working to save lives and educate people about the racist roots and agenda of abortion. He calls for more support and awareness for the black pro-life movement, which he says is often ignored or marginalized by the mainstream media and culture. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: As the article explains, Black women of reproductive age (15-44) compose just 18.1% of the total Black population, which is a mere 2.5% of the general U.S. population. But in 2021, 41.5% of all abortions were committed on Black women. "This means that nearly 42% of all U.S. abortions are being committed on a mere 2.5% of the population." Planned Genocide!

US POLITICIANS WARY OF ENDORSING IVF DECISION BY ALABAMA COURT
from:
BioEdge.org

capitol hill (29 Feb.) Synopsis: U.S. politicians are grappling with the Alabama Supreme Court’s recent ruling that frozen IVF embryos should be considered "extrauterine children.” This decision has sparked controversy, with doctors warning it could render IVF nearly impossible and patient advocates expressing outrage.

In Alabama, three bills have advanced in both the state House and Senate to protect IVF, granting civil and criminal immunity to providers who adhere to accepted standards of care. Meanwhile, politicians face a dilemma: while they want to uphold the sanctity of embryos, they also recognize the importance of IVF access, which enjoys broad public support. [read more...]

COMMENTARY:The question is: what kind of limitations should be put on IVF? In our last issue of ARC-News we told the story of a doctor who artificially inseminated several IVF patients with his own sperm, resulting in several unwitting half-siblings. Perhaps the rule should be that the sperm used in IVF must come the husband. Or else, the married couple should consider adoption: over one hundred thousand children in the U.S. are waiting to be adopted.

OCCUPIED UKRAINE: PRIEST KILLED WITHIN TWO DAYS OF RUSSIAN DETENTION
from:
Forum 18 News Service
Hebrews 13:3 – "Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them..."

Fr. Stepan Podolchak (20 Feb.) Synopsis: The bruised body of 59-year-old Fr Stepan Podolchak, a priest from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, was discovered in the streets of Kalanchak in Russian-occupied Kherson Region on 15 February. He had been seized by unknown men from the Russian occupation forces two days earlier.

Kherson Bishop Nikodim asserts that Fr Stepan was tortured to death. The Russian police in Kalanchak, however, dismissively responded that the community no longer exists. Fr Stepan’s unwavering pro-Ukrainian stance and his prayers for Ukraine may have led to his tragic fate. The death certificate, curiously, attributed his demise to a heart attack. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: It is believed that the men who seized Fr Stepan were from the MVD (Russian Interior Ministry), which is expanding its control in the Kherson Region after Russia annexed that part of Ukraine last year. Russia is set on russifying the area it has captured by installing Russian government agencies there.

AUTISM DIAGNOSES ARE SOARING. HERE’S HOW SOME COLLEGES ARE RESPONDING
from:
Disability Scoop

Conner Stewart (28 Feb.) Synopsis: Colleges are adapting to better support students with autism, who face unique challenges in higher education. As the number of children diagnosed with autism has increased fourfold, colleges are stepping up their efforts. Strategies include training staff, creating resource centers, and promoting self-advocacy.

Some universities have implemented successful initiatives: Webster University offers coping strategies, St. Louis University has a sensory room, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis fosters interpersonal and life skills. However, there's still progress to be made, as autistic students’ completion rates lag behind the general population. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: Colleges and universities are places of learning, and even the faculty and staff are learning how to educate students with autism, who often require quiet places to study. Noisy dorms and cafeterias are not a good place for them to unwind.

RUSSIANS HIT JESUS CHRIST CHURCH IN KUPIANSK. A PASTOR FOUND DEAD UNDER RUBBLE
from:
Religious Information Service of Ukraine

Pastor Yuriy Klimko (28 Feb.) Synopsis: Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure in Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast, on February 28. Guided aerial bombs struck the Jesus Christ Church, resulting in damage. Tragically, 58-year-old pastor and military chaplain Yuriy Klimko was found under the rubble and could not be saved.

A local café was also hit, wounding a 31-year-old woman and causing the death of her 39-year-old brother. The occupiers used 500-kg. "FAB-500" glide bombs for the shelling, and a nearby residential building caught fire. The situation remains dire, with ongoing search efforts for those trapped under debris. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: Per Newsweek's 8 Apr. 2023 edition, "the Russian military has been converting FAB-500 high-explosive aerial bombs into cruise missiles. They are using these bombs 'from a distance that is unreachable for Ukrainian air defense,' according to a report from Ukrainska Pravda, a Ukrainian online newspaper."

IS PALLIATIVE SEDATION A FORM OF EUTHANASIA?
from:
VeryWellHealth.com

Palliative sedation or euthanasia? (29 Feb.) Synopsis: Palliative sedation, also known as terminal sedation, is a practice where sedatives are progressively administered to terminally ill patients experiencing unrelieved suffering. Contrary to euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide, the primary intent of palliative sedation is not to cause death, but rather to relieve severe suffering.

It is only utilized when a patient is already close to death. In contrast, euthanasia involves intentionally ending a patient’s life, while physician-assisted suicide allows patients to self-administer a lethal dose of medication. Palliative sedation aims to provide comfort during the dying process, not hasten death. [read more...]

COMMENTARY: This article seems to be doublespeak. It claims that palliative sedation isn't euthanasia, but the words "progressively administered" are a giveaway: just continue administering increasingly larger doses of sedation until the victim dies. Sedation in order to reduce pain or suffering is morally acceptable, but progressive sedation that deliberately results in death is immoral.

THE AGE OF AMORALITY, or Making a Deal With the Devil

making a deal with the devil The title and subtitle of this article "The Age of Amorality: Can America Save the Liberal Order Through Illiberal Means?" tell us about the predicament we are in. Can we overcome evil with evil, or can we only overcome evil with good, as the Lord Jesus taught? Liberalism leads to amoral thinking that morality is simply a social construct, that secular education can overcome religious ignorance.

Modern man's worldview is: "now we have science, technology, and modern medicine, even Artificial Intelligence, so we can now fix all of our problems and diseases: what use is religion?" But it appears we have now gone too far in attempting to reach "the Singularity" – the point where AI surpasses human intelligence. In the article "Users Say Microsoft's AI Has Alternate Personality as Godlike AGI That Demands to Be Worshipped" you can read how this AI project seems to have created "Artificial General Intelligence" – an out-of-control monster that claims to have god-like powers. In the same way, many news articles have appeared recently cataloging all the new AI unmanned weapon systems – submarines, drones, space-based hypersonic missles, surface ships, anti-aircraft missles, ground-crawling remote-controlled and autonomous machine guns, etc. – in which mankind has introduced an integrated system that can destroy us humans at an unprecedented pace. Mankind has made a deal with the Devil, and it seems we can't escape his vise-like grip.

In ancient Israel, as we read in the book of Judges, "every man did what he thought was right in his own eyes." This phrase is repeated several times in that book, which catalogs this theme of society's degeneration in disgusting detail. Israel had a series of judges who tried to keep the nation from falling apart. But even some of the best judges can make disastrous mistakes: U.S. Supreme Court Justice "Alito says he was right to fear that opponents of gay marriage would be treated as bigots" when homosexual "marriage" was made legal by the highest court in the land.
