Here's the Distance Discipleship courseware I've been perfecting over the last several years. I began using some of these techniques over 20 years ago for a Russian-language "Introduction to Telecommunications" course I was teaching at a university in central Russia. After we moved to Moscow from central Russia in 1999, I cooperated with a mission that wanted to develop Distance Learning courseware for training Russian Christians, and eventually use it all around the world. From there, this software was developed.
About that time, my wife and I began teaching an in-class 12-lesson course entitled "Ministry to the Handicapped and Poor" and trained hundreds of Russian Christians. She's an R.N. with 40 years of experience and a Master's degree in Psychology of Rehab Counseling. I have a diploma as a Russian interpreter and four degrees: a B.A. in foreign languages, history, and political science of Central and Eastern Europe, a 4.0 A.A. in I.T., a Master's and a Doctorate in Ministry to handicapped and poor. Gradually we began expanding the program, until by now it's entitled "Social Ministry of the Church" and consists of 94 lessons in six short online courses taken in one academic year. The courseware now includes the ability to give untimed open-book or closed-book timed exams – just by flipping a switch!
You're invited to download and use our Distance Discipleship courseware for free. I've ported the lessons and tests to Moodle so I could teach these six courses online in Russian through a seminary in Moscow. My experience is that Moodle is a much more complicated system to learn and administer: it takes a full-time I.T. specialist to install and maintain the Moodle courseware. Our Distance Discipleship courseware is considerably simpler to set up and use: if you know how to "cut-and-paste" you can do it all by yourself!
So feel free to take a look online: see if you think you could use it for your online Distance Education, and download it for free, in English and Russian! And just for trying it, I'll throw in our 8-lesson "On the Incarnation of the Word" course in English and Daily Prayers," "Daily Journal," and "Scripture Memory Plan"software in six languages too!
